Our Mission
Welcome to St. Margaret Guild of the CMA! Our mission is to promote Catholic beliefs and values through informative articles, engaging blogs, and inspiring photos. We strive to create a welcoming community where members can come together to learn, share, and grow in faith. Join us in our journey of spreading the message of love and compassion.
Our Letter to Bishop Coyne, Archbishop of Hartford:
My name is Dr. Christopher Kolker. I am a board-certified primary care and palliative care physician as well as a professor and senior clinical instructor at Yale. However, I am writing to you today as a devout Catholic.
A number of us now have the opportunity to establish a Connecticut chapter of the Catholic Medical Association, the largest and oldest Catholic medical group in the United States. By forming a chapter in Connecticut, we would have the branding and name recognition necessary to reach out to Catholic medical professionals throughout the state. By doing so, we hope to bring Catholics together for spiritual growth, fellowship, and advocacy of Catholic values.
Already I have heard prospective members talk about our group reaching out in the following ways:
-
Prayer meetings
-
Spiritual growth meetings
-
Social get-togethers
-
Advocacy for issues :
-
Defending life from cradle to grave
-
Dying with dignity
-
Helping detransitioning patients on their journey
-
Participating in right-to-life events
-
Advocating at the state level for pro-Catholic legislation
-
In other words, the Lord can lead us in many different directions to support the Church. We want to be the medical wing of the Church to further Christ's plan for the world.
But we do need help. We need the written blessing of Archbishop Coyne so that the national Catholic Medical Association knows of your approval. I have submitted to you in a previous email that I am a communicant at the Cathedral of St. Patrick in Norwich.
Please pray and consider giving us your blessing, and any other form of support that you might be able to give. We are so excited to begin this wonderful journey to serve our Lord and our Church.
I look forward to your reply at kolkermd@att.net.
May God bless and keep you.
In Christ's name,
