St. Margaret Guild of the CMA is dedicated to promoting Catholic beliefs, fostering community engagement, and advocating for social change.
And now we are on Facebook! Look for us at St. Margaret Guild of the CMA! We are continuously posting new material!
We at the St. Margaret Guild of the Catholic Medical Association are pleased to announce our latest online journal club. For this event, on the evening of September 20th, we will be looking at substance abuse, its etiology, and its treatments from a Catholic medical perspective. We will look at Dr. Matthew Robert Dermbach's article in The Linacre Quarterly titled Assessing the Morality of Harm Reduction Interventions in Substance Use Treatment.
During our analysis of this article, we will discuss:
-
Why does anyone get addicted?
-
What does the Church say about addiction? Why is it allowed to exist in the first place?
-
What is the lay response to those addicted?
-
What treatments truly work for addiction?
-
Are all treatments morally acceptable in the Catholic Church?
-
Is simply managing addiction ever an option?
-
What is the role of medicine in addiction? Can it take away from our spiritual response?
Please join us for this thought-provoking discussion on Sunday evening, 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM, Sept. 20th, on the GoToMeeting link listed below. You will not be disappointed:
